My first official (for the camera) hand drill fire! I am a beginner and so this will be poor form and poor efficiency, but I got a coal! I have a lot of practice to do! I show the socket I made to hold my spindle and plug. Plug is Mullein and hearth board is willow (exact willow species unknown).

I am working on my floating hands technique, which I am using to warm up the spindle and hearth board and make some dust, but I am still weak on it for creating downward pressure. So I am using downward technique to get the pressure. I have to practice floating hands much more to improve efficiency.

I cannot list all the names of all the many great YouTube instructors who showed me how and inspired me. There are dozens of you whom I watch and learn from - thank you!
