Portaging my canoe out through a classic example of pure stands of black spruce forest, my favourite boreal forest stand type: black spruce trees, and ground cover of feather mosses and sphagnum, and Labrador Tea low shrubs. A few white birch scattered throughout. As I portage I chat about some stuff.
