This mission is made considerably easier than the previous mammoth missions by the presence of 5 other woolly mammoths. Of course, you have to keep some of them alive as well. In my playthrough, 3 of them died. That didn't fail the mission, and I'm unaware of any bonuses you get for keeping all of them alive. Maybe an experience bonus or something, but it doesn't seem it's anything important. Just do a lot of running and swinging your trunk around and you'll be fine. Again, the enemy spawns seem to be endless, so don't sit in one spot for too long. Rally the herd and keep moving after temporary clearing your surroundings.
