The Boston Public Library is not only an extremely fun location to explore with a huge battle between super mutants and robots (that you're in the middle of), but it also contains the intelligence bobblehead and a Massachusetts Surgical Journal magazine. So you'll definitely want to visit. None of the mutants are overly difficult, but the fight at the end with an enforcer and a few super mutant friends can be overwhelming. Try to stay in the doorway so you can quickly duck out of sight if you get low on health, keep your health regenerating as much as possible, and if you need to use some jet, psycho, med-ex, or a combination thereof. I'd recommend the combat shotgun and combat rifle for most of the fighting here. Your sniper rifle can come in handy at times as well. To get the magazine you'll need to turn in 10 overdue books at one of the two book return stations located here. You can then buy it from the terminal with 50 tokens.
One thing of note, and you'll probably notice in this video, I'm running the PS4 version and the framerate at this location was pretty bad. It's still playable, but I wouldn't recommend much firing from the hip here. VATS and down the sight aiming are your best bets. I'm not sure if Xbox One and PC encounter the same issues, and it's possible that other PS4 players will have no problem at all, but I definitely ran into issues here. It's the first time I ever encountered serious lag that affected gameplay to a degree, but it happened nonetheless. For the most part, the game runs pretty well on the PS4.
