Hello, neighbor, this is Curt with etrailer, and today we're gonna take a look at the Inno Aero roof rack. We're gonna see how it fits and how it installs on our 2023 Kia Carnival. Now, a vehicle like the Carnival is intended for those road trips with a good amount of people in here, the whole family, a group of friends, whatever it might be. But when you have a full complement of passengers, you run out of cargo space pretty quickly. So, having a roof rack and the ability to carry that extra cargo that won't fit in the vehicle or that you don't want in the vehicle can be a huge bonus just to make your next trip or vacation or adventure that much more pleasurable. It is an overhanging roof rack, which means that the crossbars are gonna extend out past the towers.
This is gonna give you more bar space, even allowing you to put some clamp-mounted accessories on the outside of the tower, giving you the ability to possibly use two accessories up there side by side. However, while it does have a 165-pound weight capacity, you definitely wanna double-check your owner's manual for the vehicle's rooftop capacity. If that's under 165 pounds, then that is gonna end up being your weight limit. It's an aero-style bar, which means it's got a more aerodynamic shape, wider in the front, narrower in the back. That's gonna allow these bars to be quieter while you're driving.
So, I had mentioned already you can use clamp-mounted accessories. You can remove the end cap and get access to this weather strip T-slot up here to use your T-track mounted accessories as well. Being an overhang, these have 57" bars, so these do come out a decent amount here past the door seam. But even with it extending out over it, if you set them up in a way that they're not gonna be directly above this area right here in the middle, I don't see anybody having any issues getting in and out of here and bumping their head on it at all. But if this overhang is a little bit longer than you would like, if you want something where you take maybe an inch or two off of each side and have less overhang, Inno does have a kit that's going to fit on this, and it is available right here at etrailer.
Now, speaking of those type of measurements and things like that, let's head up on the roof, take a few measurements, and see how it fits up there. So, I had already mentioned that we've got 57" of bar space up here. We're gonna take a measurement of the crossbar spread. And as you'll see soon in the installation, we're pretty free to put those wherever we want. We got ours set up today at a 32" crossbar spread, and that's right in the sweet spot for where the minimum and maximum thread on most accessories are.
We're also going to go ahead and double-check how much height this is actually adding to the vehicle. So, this is gonna add, I would call it around 4" of extra height. So, if you know your vehicle height, add 4" to that and then add your accessory height, you'll get your overall height and you'll be able to tell if you're gonna be able to get under any of those low clearance areas, like a parking garage or something like that. The other thing we'll check is how much space we have underneath the bar. Underneath the bar, we've got about 2 3/4", more than enough room for those clamp-mounted accessories. And that shark fin antenna in the back, back there, is actually just a little bit below the top of the bar. So, anything you have on top of here ought to have a good chance of clearing that antenna. But even if you have one accessory up here, and it's longer and doesn't quite clear it, you have the ability to move it to either side and take advantage of that overhang in order to get it out of the way of that antenna. We've also got a couple of sunroofs up here. Now, I'm not a big fan of opening the sunroof while you have a roof rack up here. Even though these are quieter than round or square bars, they're by no means completely silent. They will be noisy right above your head with a sunroof open. So, I don't really recommend that. The good news is we're about to show you just how easy it is to install this roof rack. Now, the thing about an installation on an Inno crossbar, especially with the raised rails, it's about the easiest installation that I've found across all the other brands.
