Hi, I'm Daniel with etrailer, and today we're gonna take a look at the Benton Shifts&Grins 2-Bike Bike Rack and how it fits on our 2024 Hyundai Palisade. If you have a two-inch hitch receiver on your Palisade and you and a buddy wanna take some bikes out to the trail, this bike rack is definitely gonna get the job done and it has some really cool features. First being the tilt feature. So, there's a button and you can tilt this all the way down, and that will allow you access to your rear hatch so you don't have to take your bikes off to get whatever you need in here. And this is a mountain bike with a pretty big spread and still there is a decent amount of room. But now with this open, you can grab your helmet, your gear, and get what you need.
Another nice feature is that this is wheel-mounted or frame-mounted so if you have that nice paint job or carbon fiber bikes, you can mount it with the wheel right here. But if you have those fenders, this isn't possible, so you also can mount it on the frame. All you have to do is take this arm off, rotate this, get this back down, and now it's frame-mounted. You're also gonna have adjustable cradles for different sized bikes and straps for each of your wheels. And to take that off, just push that button.
Now we can take our center support off, and we can take the bike off and hit the trail. And to put it in the stowed position, I'll take this arm, put it in that cradle, and then I can put the strap over this. (strap clicking) Now I'll get you a couple measurements. So, from the back of your Palisade to the furthest point, that's gonna be about 31 inches, so that'll help you determine if you can pull in and out of garages safely with bikes still back here. But if you don't have bikes back here, you can tilt this up towards the vehicle, push that same button, tilt that up, and now our furthest point is right around 18 inches.
Now for your ground clearance, that's gonna be about 10 inches, so that's just something to keep in mind when you're going up those steep hills and you wanna make sure you don't bottom out. And as you can see, with this bike rack folded up, it's not gonna impede your rear taillights. Those are still visible, as well as your backup camera. It's definitely still usable with this folded up. Some other cool features this bike rack includes that you have to get separate with some other ones is a hitch alignment collar.
And these are really nice if you're pulling this in and out a lot because you have to line up this pin every time, so you can just set this to the exact distance and every time you put this in, you can line up that pin first try. Now, the other cool feature is this anti-rattle pin. You're gonna have to tighten this nut with a 3/4-inch socket. Once you snug that down, that'll hold your shank into your hitch a lot better, so this isn't gonna rattle around on you when you're going on those long trips and annoy you. So, as you can see, I'm shaking the entire vehicle and this isn't rattling. If you're looking for a 2-bike bike rack, the Shifts&Grins is definitely a good choice, and I really like how simple it is to use and those little features they included.
