Hi, Matt with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be talking about the etrailer jack that's gonna be rated for 5,000 pounds, and it's gonna utilize your sevenfold for power. And this is gonna come with the etrailer tongue weight scale, that is gonna be a foot plate. So, let's take a closer look at it. There's a few things I really like about this kit, and I think this is gonna be perfect for someone who has a larger trailer in general, or you're gonna be using this with a weight distribution system because this will be able to lift the back of the vehicle and the trailer-side up at the same time. So you want a stronger jack in general for that.
The other thing I like about this one is we are using this seven-pole connector, so we're getting power from our vehicle-side of things. And what I like about this is this is gonna be a much more reliable power source than using your battery on your trailer, because if you're someone who has that trailer that just kind of sits on your lot or in your driveway for an extended period of time without using it, there's a lot of times that battery is gonna die on you. So using your vehicle is gonna be much more reliable. The other thing I like about this kit is two things. It's gonna make sure we're safer on the road, because if you have the improper tongue weight, you can even disconnect or cause an accident, in some severe cases.
The other thing is it's gonna make your ride quality more comfortable because you're not gonna feel as much of that chucking, and it's just gonna kind of smooth out everything so you don't feel those bumps as much. But what I like specifically about this tongue weight scale is one is very small, very compact, and it's easy to use. All we have to do is make sure we're connected to our trailer with our truck. We're gonna lift up that foot plate and remove the one that stays on there full time. Once that one's removed, we throw this one on there, you have two orientations that you could put on since we have two sets of holes.
Once that's on there, you'll just lower it back down on the ground, get your reading, and then you can remove it. When we compare this to other types of tongue weight scales out there, they typically involve a lot of back and forth where you have to couple, uncouple, pull forward, back. This takes a lot of that movement out of the equation. Now I want to go over all the parts of this. So I'm gonna start with the jack.
So when you go to operate it, there is gonna be an up (motor buzzes) and a down button. (motor buzzes) They feel pretty comfortable to press and I can talk over them just fine, so it doesn't get too loud, and it moves at a decent pace. We're also gonna have this light switch in front of there. That's gonna help you at night when you are coupling up. And then here at the very back of it, we are gonna have this old tap that comes completely off, and you can actually manually operate this if you ever need to, if you can't get power for whatever reason. When it comes to the amount of travel you're gonna have with this, this is gonna have 18 inches of travel. So that's a lot. So that's gonna work with a wide range of trailers out there no matter what height it is. And if you need a little bit more height, this actually comes with this foot plate that has multiple holes on here. So compared to the tongue weight scale I have on there right now, you can get this much higher. And when it comes to the capacity of this, like I was saying earlier, this is gonna be rated for 5,000 pounds, which is a lot of weight. And that's really only gonna be something you're gonna need to consider if you're using this with your weight distribution, because typically when you lift up your trailer, you want to lift up that truck as well. It just kind of helps you get that whole process set up. So having something that's gonna well exceed what your tongue weight is, is gonna go a long way. Looking at this scale here, you're gonna notice two things. One, we got a lot of these little notches. These notches are gonna be in 50-pound increments, and this is gonna have a max capacity of 2,000 pounds. Like I was saying earlier, this jack itself is ready for 5,000 pounds. So this is gonna be the lowest-rated component right here, is a scale. But again, there's not gonna be too many trailers out there that is gonna exceed a 2,000-pound tongue weight.
