Hi, I'm Daniel of etrailer, and today, we're gonna take a look at. I'm gonna show how to install the Blue Ox charge line kit on our 2026 Ford Bronco. Charge line kits are really nice to have. I always recommend people get them when they have the flat-tow set up. And what this is doing, it's trickle charging your battery from your motor home, so this stays nice and charged when you arrive to the campsite. The question we often get asked is if this is going to drain your motor home's battery, and the answer is no, it's not gonna drain it whatsoever.
It's just gonna keep this battery charged. To get this to start charging, all you have to do is plug in umbilical in the front and then hit the road and it'll charge while you're driving. Now what's nice about the Blue Ox is it has an indicator light. It's an LED-light in the top here, and that will actually tell you if this is working. A lot of the other ones we have on the market, they don't have this and you just have to guess if they're working.
So, it's nice. It will give you different colors depending on if it's charging or disconnected or fully-charged. If you're somebody who's not worried about checking that indicator light, we do have a simpler kit out there. It's by Roadmaster, and that just comes with a breaker and all the wires you need to get everything installed. Ford Broncos are super popular flat-towable vehicles, and I'll go over the five main components you're gonna need in order to get your flat-tow setup started. We're gonna start here at the vehicle. It's gonna be our base plate. We're gonna have your tow bar. You're gonna have your braking system, your safety cables, and your diode wiring.
As far as getting this kit installed, it's really straightforward. I probably did it in about 10 minutes, so it doesn't take too long at all. But if you're getting any of your other flat-tow components set up and you don't have the time or tools to do the work yourself, you can check out our installer locator and we can find an installer local to you to get whatever you need installed. If you wanna get this kit installed, follow along in this video, we'll walk you through it. Starting off, I have our long red wire. This is traveling to the front where our six-pole plug is. So I have this near our battery and I routed this down along with our diodes on our driver's side, all the way down and around the frame and out right here. I'll get this through, take up some of that slack and I'll trim this to length. And as you can see, we already have our diodes installed for our charge line. That's gonna go on our center post. I'll take a small Phillips head, loosen up that set screw, stick in our wire and tighten our set screw. To connect our main unit, they do give you holes and you can self-tap this somewhere. There's not a whole lot of spots to get to. You can easily get it self-tapped into the frame. I'm gonna use some hook and loop and touch it right on the bracket so that way, you can peel this off if need be. Cleaned it really well with some rubbing alcohol. (removing the plastic safely) Now we can take our black wire and it already has an eyelid on it. We'll connect this to our negative-post on our battery. I'm gonna use a 10 millimeter socket, (doing the procedure safely) take this nut off, put on our black wire and get this tightened back down. (tightening safely) And we'll do the same thing with our power wire. We'll get this opened up and looks like we're gonna be using this post here. So I can either take this off with a 10 millimeter or I actually did find a nut we had in the shop so I can just stack this. So now, I'll use a 10-millimeter and tighten this down. (tightening safely) Everything connected on our battery. I'm gonna put some black silicone over all of our terminals, make sure this doesn't get corroded and I can put our plug in place after I do that. And that does it for look at our Blue Ox charge line kit for 2026 Ford Bronco.
