Hey there, neighbors. Kevin here with etrailer, and today, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt replacement OEM USCAR-style trailer connector here on our 2025 Ford Bronco. Now if you're like our neighbor today and you want to get the most out of your Bronco, you probably have gone ahead and gotten yourself a trailer hitch, or maybe you're in the search for a trailer hitch and know that you're gonna need that wiring to go along with it so that way you can tow a trailer behind your Bronco. And if that's the case for you, Curt has a great option for you because this USCAR-style connector is going to plug right into the factory wiring that should be bolted right up to the crosstube that your trailer hitch is going to connect to. It's gonna make it a super easy install. The hardest part of this is really just finding the correct bracket to make this work with your setup.
Now for us today, we didn't have a hitch where it came with a welded-on tab for us to bracket up to. If that's the case for you, definitely recommend getting one that has it. But if not, I just ended up using the bracket that was actually hiding our factory wiring and it was hooked up through two of the bolts that we inchesre actually here before our trailer hitch. And I just kind of cut that down to make it work and I'll kind of get a little bit more into that once we get into the install, but I do want to focus more up on our connector here. So the nice thing about this is this is also a four-way connecting point and seven-way.
So if you say you need that seven-way and then you find out, oh, hey, you know, I bought a small utility trailer or I, you know, got a boat trailer or something like that and I now need a four-pole connector, now I don't have to use an adapter like this one right here from TowSmart where I'd have to purchase this separately, make sure I'm hanging onto it, have it popped into the seven-way, and then be able to hook up my four pole connection point. I don't have to have that at all. I can just simply switch over the four-way and I'm all ready to go. And the nice thing about this from Curt is that if you are having any issues with it, they label everything out and it's specifically to that pin. So if I look at it here, I know this pin is my right turn and stop signal right there.
Looking at the seven-way, that's probably a little bit more important because that's typically where you're, you know, kind of looking at these pins and you're like, "Ah, what is this" And it's all labeled out nice and neatly for you so you don't even have to look it up on your phone. You can just look right at the cover of it and know exactly what you're looking for. Now if you have an easy situation with a bracket, this installation is gonna be, honestly, just a couple of seconds because like I said, it is that USCAR-style connection point where you just simply plug it right in and you're all good to go. Now, if you don't have an easy option for the bracket and you do have to go the route I did today, you will need an angle grinder with not only a grinding bit or grinding disc and then also a cutting disc so that way you can kind of mold this to actually fit what you need. And I know in some cases that's not gonna be an option for most people.
Maybe you're not someone who's really mechanically inclined. Maybe you just want to make sure that this is all done correctly. And if that's the case for you, you can definitely use our installer locator and enter in your zip code to find a shop near you and get it professionally installed. If you are wanting to do this yourself though, stick around and I'll walk you through the process. To begin our install, we're gonna come down to the back of our vehicle where you'll see your factory wiring harness plugged in to a little hole inside of the trailer hitch. Now what we'll need is a trim panel removal tool or just the flathead screwdriver. We can pop that out. And then we will take off the dust cover on here by pressing in and kind of wiggling that around to get it free. There we go. Then we can pull that out, remove that, and then you can see our connector here. Now we have a Curt-style seven-way and four-way, and this is the USCAR-style connection here so t
