Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 offers both a 60fps and a 120fps performance mode, and this video tests both using a custom frame rate analysis tool to find out how well the game actually hits those targets.
Tested on Nintendo Switch 2 across Nero and V's opening levels.
The test covers the first level for Nero, excluding the prologue, and the first level for V, showing off the opening battles for each character as well as their first boss encounters. The tool measures real framerate by detecting duplicate frames to calculate true FPS separately from the container rate, alongside per frame frametime data that reveals stuttering and inconsistencies that average FPS figures would otherwise hide.
The results are interesting. In 120fps mode, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Devil May Cry 5 can genuinely reach 120fps, but only in specific enclosed areas such as caves and tunnels where the scene complexity is lower. For the majority of gameplay, the frame rate hovers closer to 90fps rather than holding the full 120fps target. The 60fps mode provides a more consistent and stable experience by comparison, and this video breaks down exactly how both modes perform across the demanding combat and boss encounters of the opening levels.
