Some mechanics glitches related to the game's basic combat and weapon mechanics. Some of this might already be known. We messed around with this stuff while Kazooie was around, and he may be the player in some of these clips.

None of these techniques have a real use so far. However, I haven't tested them with the post-game weapons like RPG; there's a chance those could open up some new possibilities.

0:00 - wrong weapon aim glitch. If you walk forward while armed, then switch weapons from menu, then hold 'aim' as you're leaving the menu, York will start aiming with his new weapon using the previous weapon's armed walking stance. His arms don't do much during the animation, causing the attack look very janky. I think this affects weapon hitboxes as well, usually making them shorter or otherwise oddly shaped. Throwing away your weapon during wrong weapon aim looks pretty strange as well.

As a limitation, this glitch does not work from 1-handed weapon armed walking, and it can't be done with any gun.

1:03 - although Pause-menu can't be opened while aiming, you can still buffer an aim to occur after pausing by pressing 'aim' and Pause simultaneously. If you buffer aim while unarmed, York will attempt unsheathing his current weapon. If you now discard your current weapon from Pause-menu, then hold 'aim' while leaving the menu, York's arms will get stuck near his pockets indefinitely. This is pretty much the same effect as could be done with flares previously.

(Not on the vid: doing the same thing during a sheathe animation will also make York's arms get stuck, but this will only last as long as you hold down 'aim' after leaving the menu, so the effect isn't as impressive.)

1:34 - if you buffer gun aim and press Pause simultaneously, then discard your gun, then hold down 'aim' as you leave the menu, York will start aiming with a non-existent gun. This mode has less functionality compared to regular gun aim; for instance, York doesn't pull back his arms next to walls. Trying to shoot crashes the game. Letting go of 'aim' on the other hand ends the glitch as if nothing had happened.

(Not on the vid: the same can be done with melee weapons too, but the game just immediately crashes once gameplay continues. Wesley Special also immediately crashes the game.)

2:22 - if you switch weapons during automatic sheathing, the sheathe animation is interrupted. However, some timer remains in the background that will unload or otherwise make York's currently held weapon disappear. This will even happen while aiming, so this is another way of starting the invisible gun-glitch.

(Not on the vid: started this way, the invisible gun-glitch has slightly more functionality and York's arms do react to walls this time around. You can also try reloading if your clip is not at full, but this also crashes the game.)

2:41 wrong weapon label glitch. Using Radio, it's possible to create a mismatch between what weapon York is holding and which weapon is listed on the HUD.

To do this, quick switch weapons, then frame precisely use Radio right as the animation is about to begin and the HUD is updating itself. This way the HUD is updated without York changing the weapon he is currently holding.

In this first example, the HUD says York is unarmed while he is holding Grecotch. The way York runs in the generic running animation while holding Grecotch looks mildly glitchy.

3:15 - In this example, York holds a golf club while the HUD says he is holding Grecotch. His armed walking pose is a bit glitchy. I enter menu and discard the gold club just to see what would happen, but this doesn't influence York's current state at all: he continues holding a ghost weapon that doesn't exist in the inventory and can no longer be used. To note, pressing 'aim' immediately makes the weapon listed in the HUD appear in York's hands, thus ending the glitch. Switching weapons generally fixes the glitch too, so I haven't found anything too interesting to do with it.

3:46 - In this example, York holds Grecotch while the game HUD says he is holding a shovel. I then discard the shovel to see what will happen. This makes York instantly become unarmed, even though he was holding Grecotch and not the shovel.

4:20 - In this example, York holds nothing while the HUD says he is holding the Wesley Special. This will make York carry an invisible gun, although this is not the same thing as the previous instances with an invisible gun. It's mostly just a graphical oddity regarding York's armed walking/running animation.

For some reason I noticed that while this glitch is active, if you're running and switch weapons to unarmed, the sheathe animation is cancelled and York continues holding the invisible gun indefinitely. The glitch is fixed if you do any action that uses York's arms, though, so you can't really do much with this glitch or take it very far.
