Visiting the Long Neck Karen Village in Northern Thailand was like something out of National Geographic! The Karen women are known for their elongated necks, which are formed from the heavy rings or coils made from brass and gold alloy. This is done mostly for tradition, as the rings and long necks represent wealth, position, and beauty. Another reason for using the rings is to prevent wild tigers from biting their necks. One more thing-their necks aren't elongated. I explain why in the video.
