In my crochet tutorial today I’ll be showing you how to make this crochet cardinal applique.
If you would like to view the crochet pattern for free, it’s on my website at kerriscrochet.com/crochet-cardinal-pattern or you can download it from Ravelry at ravelry.com/patterns/library/cardinal-12 for $1 at and LoveCrafts at lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/cardinal-crochet-pattern-by-kerris-crochet
You can also subscribe to Kerri’s Crochet Newsletter and get a free copy of the Crochet Cat Towel eBook at kerriscrochet.com/crochet-pattern-ebook-and-newsletter
For this pattern you will need any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Catona cotton colours (115) Hot Red, (110) Black, (516) Candy Apple, (393) Charcoal, (406) Soft Beige, (254) Moon Rock and (515) Emerald. A crochet hook, I used a 2.5mm hook. A darning needle to weave in ends and a pair of scissors. Thread and needle to stitch it together. A small gold or brown bead for the eye.
The finished size will be 19cm wide x 17cm high (7.5” wide x 6.5” high) for the larger cardinal, using 8 ply crochet cotton. The size of the cardinal in Catona will be 17cm wide x 15.5cm high (6.5” wide x 6” high). The medium cardinal will be 13cm wide x 12cm high (5” wide x 4.75” high) when using 4 ply crochet cotton. The small cardinal will be 11cm wide x 9cm high (4.5” wide x 3.5” high) when using 2 ply crochet cotton.
