In 1988 the BBC debuted a science-fiction comedy. The premise: a technician on a spacecraft awakes after three million years. He is apparently the last living human, accompanied only by a holographic man and something that evolved from a pregnant cat. The show became a fan favorite, and was even given an international Emmy. (It would be revived in 2009 for another four seasons). Howard Goodall scored the original series; the theme song ('It's Cold Outside') is a memorable one.
00:00 Opening titles and explainer, season one. This is actually the theme song but played in a portentous, '2001' manner.
01:43 Opening titles, season four. The same theme, only now it's a rock instrumental (new arrangement introduced in season three).
02:25 Opening titles and end credits, season eight. Jenna Russell is the enthusiastic vocalist heard as the credits roll.
