Jess Oppenheimer is known for creating 'I Love Lucy'. This follow-up was sort of a mirror image: instead of an American wife with a Cuban-born husband, 'Angel' was all about an American husband (Marshall Thompson) with a wife from France (Annie Fargé). Lucy-style slapstick was deemphasized; language and communication provided much of the humor. Despite top guest stars the show only ran for one season. The theme is by Eliot Daniel and Oppenheimer; they had become friends back in their radio days. (Daniel also composed the 'I Love Lucy' theme but his name was kept off the credits for two seasons due to being under contract elsewhere.)
