William Conrad rose to radio stardom with 'Gunsmoke', but his build didn't quite match what tv viewers might expect when the show transitioned to television. Conrad continued in radio and narration, acted in secondary roles in movies and tv, and became a skilled director. But the big man really conquered the small screen with 1971's 'Cannon', a portly investigator who drove Lincoln Continentals and pretty much worked alone. It ran for five seasons with a theme composed by John Parker (also known for 'CHiPs').
