The oft-told tale of a shipwrecked family was given the Irwin Allen treatment in this 1975 series. After a two-hour pilot the show took over ABC's 7pm Sunday slot, where it competed with Disney on NBC and in December a little show called '60 Minutes'. As a result, the castaways only enjoyed one season on the island. Keep an eye on the cast for a future star in a very early role. The splashy orchestral theme is by Richard LaSalle who went on to score the series. LaSalle followed the convention of a cymbal crash when the name 'Irwin Allen' appears on the screen. Three times.
