Cetu Java were founded in Hanover, Germany in the mid-80s. They began releasing singles in 1987, beginning with “Help Me Now”. None of these charted. “Southern Lands was their first album, arriving in 1990. It featured their only hit recording, “A Dónde”, which reached #2 in Spain.
Lead singer Javier Revilla Diez came from Spain; the other band members were Chris Demere, Stefan Engelke and Torsten Engelke. A second album followed in 1992, “Where Is Where” on the Blanco Y Negro label. Neither album charted.
Wikipedia notes that Sr. Diez became a professor of geography at the Leibniz University of Hanover.
