Fourth part, about measuring frequency and converting to a liquid level …
↓↓↓ Complete description, time index and links below ↓↓↓
In the third video we’ve build an RC oscillator around a Schmitt-trigger inverter, that changes it’s frequency with the capacitance of our sensor (link below). Now it’s time to measure that frequency with an MCU and output a liquid level.
We start by measuring the frequency of our oscillator with an Arduino Nano Every. Then we’re off on a tangent discussing the parasitic effects of oscilloscope probes. Finally we convert the frequency into a liquid level using a little math.
00:00 Intro – from analog to digital
00:48 Frequency measurement – with an MCU
05:42 Parasitic effects – of oscilloscope probes (addendum)
11:11 Frequency vs liquid level – taking some sample data
14:37 Period to liquid level – some math (linear least squares)
21:59 Wrap-up – next time we’re using just a MCU, bye
