Adding an isolated RS-485 transceiver using the now 3.3V isolated rail …
↓↓↓ Complete description, time index and links below ↓↓↓
In the previous video we successfully created an isolated 5V rail that produces very little noise using an isolated, unregulated DC/DC converter (link below). Now let’s finish things by adding an isolated RS-485 transceiver.
First I explain why I went for an isolated 3.3V rail instead of a 5V one. Of course we test the 3.3V rail for stability and noise under different load conditions. Finally we add the RS-485 transceiver and test communications as well as noise.
00:00 Intro – parts arrived, let’s finish the RS-485 interface
00:43 Power supply – isolated rail via 5V to 3.3V converter
04:01 Noise & stability – low noise & stable under all loads
06:27 Transceiver – TPT7481 isolated RS-485 transceiver
08:39 Test with master – working and the noise is still low
11:17 RS-485 signals – good (TPT7481) & bad (CA-IS3098W)
14:06 Wrap-up – next is analyzing the motor back EMF, bye
