We recently ran a half-day team build at Blackpool Zoo, where the participants built these awesome pop-through platforms. After some morning preparation where we installed some firehose between the enclosure steel structure and added some eye bolts, it was then over to the corporate team to create the platforms and fix them into groups of three with the firehose.
Everyone carried them to the enclosure where they were clipped onto the eye bolts that were installed in the morning, and it was over to the primates to test them out, and they went down great!
Each of the 800mm x 800mm platforms has a 350mm x 350mm hole in it. This means the groups of three platforms offer resting areas, feeding stations, as well as a great play structure. The firehose offers some movement in the structure, but not enough that it may cause harm, or damage the window in the enclosure.
A huge well done to the team for making these, you did an awesome job! And of course thanks to the keepers for requesting this design and helping with the installation, it's been great working with you on our first Blackpool team build.
