We absolutely love these awesome prototype sealion feeders, and it turns out the sealion are quite like them as well!
During a team build at Yorkshire Wildlife Park the group created six of these HDPE floating bubble feeders. The box is solid, with a mesh top and bottom. Inside are several polycarbonate shelves, each with a hole in it. Fish is loaded into the feeder through the door, and once put in the water it floats on the surface. The sealions then have to either tumble it to get the fish to the mesh where it can be pulled through, or use the bubble blowing technique up through the box. The inside shelves rest on the pipe clips that hold the capped pipes, which in turn helps the feeder to float.
A huge thanks to the keepers at YWP for letting us try out the prototype, it works amazing! And of course thanks to the fantastic corporate group for a great day!
