This meerkat encounter area was created in a team build at Yorkshire Wildlife Park this summer. The idea is that people taking part in encounters can be the ones to fill up the enrichment feeders, and the bench is low enough for them to sit on. The whole thing is modular, with all of the ramps simply sitting on hooks, so it can be reconfigured or even moved if needed. The feeders are also removable and can be replaced with a blanking piece or even different types of feeders.
During the team build the groups woked on differnt parts of the project. Two groups created the triangles, two groups built the feeders and blanking pieces, while another group created all the platforms. Once each part was complete the whole team came together to fit it all and make sure everything worked.
A huge well done to the team for creating this awesome encounter/enrichment area for the meerkats, yo did an amazing job!
