We have built these awesome T-Feeders in the past for the primates at Woburn, so when we were asked to make them for the macaques at Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park it was our chance to upgrade them slightly. Macaques can be quite destructive, so some stronger materials were needed to build them compared to the lightweight first version.
The feeders are suspended from different areas in the enclosure. The whole device can rotate on a swivel, and the individual mesh cubes can also rotate. The idea is that it makes the primates work harder for their food, as well as extending the time searching and obtaining food.
Over the course of the two-hour team build the group built many of these feeders, and as expected, the devices worked great with the macaques, and will also be tested with other species. A huge well done to the group, it was a great build!
