The mechanism for a Betti reaction where an aldehyde is reacted with a phenol and primary amine in order to produce an α-aminobenzylphenol. Many times the primary amine is a primary aromatic amine. The Betti reaction is very similar to the Mannich reaction as it is a specific case of the Mannich reaction.
