The mechanism for a Corey-Winter Olefin synthesis which involves the transformation of diols to the corresponding olefins by sequential treatment with 1,1’-thiocarbonyldiimidazole (TCDI) and trimethylphosphite. Also known as the Corey–Winter reductive elimination, or Corey–Winter reductive olefination.
