...So out of the millions of stones that my Eyes pass over while looking for potential firestones this particular stone caught my eye. More because my eyes are trained now to recognise certain stones either by colour or pattern & this flagged recognition centre like a lighthouse.

...I don't actually know what it is, & if anyone has any ideas please let me know.  It has a very high silica content & would definitely be knappable & it flakes nicely under percussion. I use it for fires sometimes but rarely find large pieces.

...Anyway as soon as I picked it I could see it had been crafted by hand long ago  & what was more amazing to me was that I realised I'd  gone through the same thought process when fashioning my own primitive axe head.
Thousands of years apart but our brains still come up with the same basic design though trial & error.
