Baudimon's just trying to get some sleep, but a commotion outside forces him to go investigate. Turns out a bald headed man is saying the crazies are coming and runs past Jakka into one of the tents. Turns out the "crazies" are a pack of centaurs and their leader, Garam. He wonders where the thief went and demands an answer from Jakka.

Despite Baudimon coming out to diffuse the situation, Jakka pulls a stupid on the level of angering my man X...never, ever, EVER, call a centaur a horse. Jakka does that and makes Garam mad enough to initiate a hunt. Quickest lead in to a battle eh? Even the so called thief laughs about how he roped a bunch of unsuspecting people into a battle so he can slip away.

The objective here is to survive for 8 turns and keep at least one of the green tents alive. There's no bonus for ensuring all of them survive so don't worry if one gets taken out. Seems like an easy mission right?

Well, not if we factor in the secret lunatic objective to that. The centaurs base class is known as a Windrider while a promoted version is a Khan. Four such Khans are on the map, one in each corner. All of them must die to satisfy the secret lunatic objective, meaning you're going to have to split your army up into four groups to achieve this, making this chapter quite challenging without the right setups.

For the northwest corner, Samuel & Runa are going to duo it. Runa has the weapon from her village last chapter, the Hunting Bow, which is effective against beasts which all centaurs fall under. Even at base level, she can two shot every enemy. Maybe not so for the Khans, but she can still shave off a huge chunk of health.

Samuel has a small side task in this chapter and that's to get his bow rank up for something I want to purchase for him next chapter. Thankfully with the Short Bow's increased weapon exp gain, this is easy to achieve...and he can still quite easily net kills with it. Might need a silver weapon or an Armorslayer for the Khan though (Khans are an armored class).

The southwest corner is going to be dealt with by the viking duo of Bjarki & Berit (whom I have start up a support with each other). They don't have either an anti armor or anti cavalry weapon, but a centaur that Fred wipes out provides a Halberd. Thanks to a full inv, Fred can send it to the convoy and one of the two can pick it up from a tent...or use a new party member to do the job, Estelle.

Estelle is a Light Mage and thusly brings the ability to fill every enemy's soul with light and laugh at how a majority of them won't be able to counter in return thanks to her skill Dazzle.

Growth wise, only str & def are bad. Everything else sits around the 45-60% range. She's got potential for sure...and another person that can participate in one of the bonus chapters at the end if she's promoted.

Then...we have the other two corners. Normally, I'd have Thea & Colter deal with the southeastern corner, but the secret event for this chapter spawns an individual with stealable Boots on turn 3 in the northeast near Garam. Lilinette is going to go southeast with the intent on using Rescue to bring Colter to the southeast more quickly as there's one Windrider with a Talisman to steal.

Everyone else? Besides Fred who will bolt south after sending that Halberd to the convoy to assist the ladies in the southeast, they'll be going to the northeast. One problem...nobody is exactly equipped to bring down the Khan quickly, especially because he can drop a Brave Axe if he's not allowed to switch off his Tomahawk.

On turn 2, the solution comes in the form of a new party member from the north, Victoria. She starts as a blue unit and ready to murder some centaurs thanks to having a Zanbato.

If that wasn't good enough, her personal skill Hyperactive applies the brave effect to all her weapons. Two hits of her Zanbato are going to absolutely murder the northeastern Khan, if not bring it extremely low on hp.

The rest is pretty uneventful, even if I had some nail biters towards the end in the southeast and, to a lesser extent, the northeast. Thea is making a very convincing argument to get on my endgame team with the way her strength's developing thus far.

At the end of the chapter, Garam comes in knowing full well what failing means for himself, given his tribe's customs. Baudimon has a choice to either kill Garam or keep him alive. If you elect to kill him, Baudimon gets 100 exp and an Energy Ring (+2 str to a unit). If you keep him alive, Garam becomes a new party member...and a pretty solid one all things considered. I'll talk about him more next time.
