Chrono Trigger: Enhansa Edition is a hack by inuksuk that rebalances things such as characters, equipment, techs, and so on to provide a harder challenge overall.

To get the patch, you'll need to join the NGPlus discord. A link to join it is located here:

Version being played: 0.4.4

Time to enter the Denadoro Mountains. Make sure Lucca's one of your frontliners if you want to make killing one enemy much less of a hassle.

Speaking of the enemies, there's several new ones on tap. Bellbirds love to counter with a move that inflicts chaos while Free Lancers are very counter happy and can even do the X-Strike dual tech if there's at least one other of their kind in battle.

The gimmicky enemy award goes to the Ogans though. They carry a hammer and use it damn near instantly when a battle with one begins, hitting everyone and causing their hp to slowly sap away. They also take greatly reduced damage from all sources, but there's one small problem...that hammer is wooden and easily burnable. If Lucca uses Flame Toss or Fire, the Ogan's hammer goes bye bye and the enemy becomes the unarmed variant, a Goblin. It loses both the damage resistance and what little damage it could feasibly do, making it an easy kill.

Nothing real special to the first area besides some random monsters and 300G in a chest. Trying to leave the screen via the northwestern exit though causes a kid to come running by, scared of monsters and all that. Guess what? He's the "Hero" that's been referenced around this region. Lovely lad isn't he?

What follows is a quick couple of forced fights, one against a Goblin, the second an Ogan. Once they're out of the way, take the northeast exit to the next area. Leads to a dead end, but there's a Mirage Hand weapon (+6 stamina) for Robo.

After backtracking and taking the northwest exit up a ladder, go southwest once you get off the ladder to reach a Revive on the first screen you couldn't previously reach, then back north and continue on the linear path while grabbing an Ether & 500G.

The third screen has you under the shade of some tree branches. Head east until you see two paths going north, one of them arcing a little to the northeast. Take the first north path to a Mid Ether before the north-northeast path, collecting a Revive & Gold Helm before the ladder. Climb that ladder and go west to a fork. South leads to a Mid Tonic, west leads to the next screen which is linear with a Mid Ether on the way. Note the Free Lancer tossing rocks here which will slightly damage you if they connect.

The next screen only has 600G and one battle, but that battle unlocked a rather important tech for Crono, Spincut. Costs 4 mp to launch an attack that does roughly double his normal attack damage. Nice, but it's also used in a few double techs like Fire Sword with Lucca, Ice Sword with Marle, and Max Cyclone with Robo. The latter one there is interesting because the range is a circle around Robo which can't be retargeted.

Before heading to the next screen, heal everyone up. There's several battles in a row without a chance to heal in between.

Once past that enemy gauntlet and into the next area, grab the 300G, then keep heading west instead of north towards the enemies. There's a waterfall to the south you can fall down, but you want to be as far west as possible before taking the plunge. Doing so lets you access a Silver Stud accessory (halves mp usage), then you can jump off the platform and take a path back to the pre-enemy gauntlet room with a Silver Earring (Hp goes up by 25%) on the way.

Back at the top of the waterfall area, there's a Mid Tonic guarded by some enemies and a Mid Ether as you go west to the next area.

From here, it's a straight shot to the boss area, but you'll want to speak to the NPC monster you see on the cliffside. After a few chats, it'll hand over a Soda Tab.

In the area where the save point is, there's a brand new accessory this hack introduces, the Peace Ring. Those annoying chaos inflicting birds will annoy the wearer of this ring no longer.

Finally, there's a Shelter shortly before you invade the turf of the stone throwing Free Lancer.
