Today, we make an _unpublished_ Trader Vic cocktail that I found in the April 1952 issue of House and Garden Magazine. The Pacifica Punch was created by Trader Vic as a companion to the Pacific design trend that launched just 1 year earlier. This style was all about influences from Japan and the Pacific. The original punch recipe was a lot to take on, and there are instructions for that below

*Pacifica Punch*
1 oz orange juice (30 ml)
Β½ oz lemon juice (15 ml)
Β½ oz grapefruit juice (15 ml)
ΒΌ oz demerara syrup (7.5 ml)
Β½ oz passion fruit syrup (15 ml)
Β½ oz banana liqueur (15 ml)
ΒΎ oz gold rum (22 ml)
ΒΎ oz dark rum (22 ml)
1 oz dry white wine (30 ml)
*Original Pacifica Punch*
5 dozen oranges
4 dozen lemons
10 bananas
3 grapefruit
2 lbs brown sugar
2 sprigs mint
10 bottles white wine
1 bottle Passion Fruit Nectar
6 bottles light rum
1 battle dark Jamaican rum
Squeeze the fruit and slice the banana. Add all ingredients to a crock, rinds included, except for rum. Let it stand overnight. Next day, add rum, strain and discard fruit pulp. Pour into a barrel or punch bowl with ice. Let it chill as long as you can stand it. Then "blow the starting whistle" and serve in coconut cups.
