On November 16, 2024. An officer from the New Holstein Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for traveling 40 MPH in a posted 25 MPH zone. As the officer approached the vehicle, he observed an open case of twisted tea and asked the driver (Tim) for his license. Tim explained that his license was currently suspended and admitted to drinking earlier in the night.
Tim was then asked to step out of the vehicle and perform field sobriety tests. He asked multiple times if he could just call a friend for a ride home. The officer explained that it was not an option to just go home and Tim agreed to do the tests. It was determined that he failed the tests and Tim agreed to provide a PBT sample which showed an estimated BAC of 0.158. He was then secured in handcuffs and taken to the hospital for a blood draw before being transported to the Calumet County Jail where he was released on a signature bond.
A search of the vehicle revealed multiple open containers, empty cases of twisted tea, and an empty liquor bottle. Tim was found guilty for OWI (2nd) and was sentenced to 45 days in jail with work release privileges, his license got revoked for 17 months, and he was required to pay $1,600 in fines.
