Previously, we made it so that our sliding cradle connected to the miter slot by using either a miter gauge or a homemade handle. Today we’ll design the fence our stock will connect to.
The fence is nothing more than a piece of plywood dadoed so that it fits on the cradle and rests against the table top. Of course, that alone won’t be enough to maintain a perfect 90˚ surface for our stock. To solve this, we’ll cut a piece of plywood diagonally by using bitesize 223.
We’ll also add a stop block for the stock to rest against. I designed it to slide out of the way when the blade needs to be higher, keeping things versatile.
Finally, both sides will be attached to the fence and the cradle, securing everything tightly.
In the next video we’ll make stop settings that will make repeatable cuts easy…
