Ziryab (Abu l-Hasan 'Ali Ibn Nafi') was a singer, oud player, composer, poet, and teacher who lived and worked in Abbasid Caliphate under Harun al-Rashid, Aghlabid Emirate under Zidayat Allah and finally Emirate of Córdoba under Abd ar-Rahman II. Nicknamed 'Black Bird' or Ziryab (Persian) or Pájaro Negro (Spanish) due to its talent invoice and music. He became court musician in Umayyad Iberia and composed symphony of Andalusī nūbah in total 24 nubat, one for each hour of the day. He established a school of music that trained singers and musicians of both male and female students. Ziryab started a vogue by changing clothes according to the weather and season and revolutionize fashion in andalusia.created a new type of deodorant to get rid of bad odors and also promoted morning and evening baths and emphasized the maintenance of personal hygiene. Ziryab is thought to have invented an early toothpaste, which he popularized throughout Umayyad Iberia.
Al-Manṣūr billāh (Almanzor) was title given to Abu ʿĀmir Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Abi ʿĀmir as the de facto ruler of Umayyad Caliphate of Córdoba between 978–1002 CE. His formal position was Hajib (Prime minister) under young Umayyad caliph Hisham II.
During his reign Umayyad Córdoban military domination in Iberian peninsula and Maghreb (Morocco) was unchallenged. Eliminating his rivals in Umayyad court, pounding northern iberian kingdoms of León & Navarre as well as county of Galicia, Castille and Barcelona and also defeated rebel emir of Ziri ibn Atiyya and remnant of idrissids in Maghreb (Morocco). During his reign Umayyads re-capture territory south of Duero river and fill the ranks of Umayyad Iberian army with berber recruits, balancing the existing Slavic army (Ṣaqāliba). But his policy of centralized administration and dicator-style rule and overshadowing the young umayyad caliph ruining the delicate administration and political stability developed during previous Umayyad caliphs.
