I've been having A Time, and after some consideration I think I want to start uploading smaller videos here. I keep too much locked behind unlisted videos, private chats, and my brain(the least trustworthy!!), and that just feels unfair. But I suppose that should include publishing all my unlisted videos too, even if old stuff might be kinda wrong or cringe. So here you go ❤️ Smthn smthn growing as a person new year new me.
Original Title: 1.9+ end fite step by step tutorial

free cookie to whoever actually optimizes this/ties without bows cuz personally i would rather peel my toenails and eat them raw
Notes:
This is an improvement from my previous zero cycle TAS(youtu.be/lrB5oQJkyQc). The main improvement being just doing everything better.
This took about 40 hours, of which none of it I remember because I had gotten all of my wisdom teeth removed and was just blacked out at my monitor half crying in those goofy face bras at ungodly hours. It’s is also completely playback, unlike any of my other TASes. I did it on 1.18 because of this, but it would work in 1.16 as well. I would share the inputs, but I lost them(along with the mods I had for standardizing the RNG) when my ssd died.
And as a treat(I'm procrastinating), and since this is the fastest zero cycle TAS I'm aware of, I’ll give a bit of an overview:
I’m fairly confident you can get a sub 40 end fight on basically any seed, but naturally some seeds are just going to be better. I want the obsidian spawn platform to be floating instead of buried underground, just so I don’ have to dig up first.
But, I’m also looking for a specific tower formation. The end has 10 different towers around the island, but their order is randomized depending on the seed. For this I want the tallest tower to be positioned directly in front of where I spawn. Really just the taller the better, but the tallest the bestest. It should also be taller than the tower directly across from it, so the dragon doesn’t fly that way instead of towards me.
As for the execution, I start by pearling to the top of the tower, which frankly is deceptively precise. This gives me a lot of height quickly, and it’s why I wanted the tallest tower positioned here. The higher I am, the closer I am to the dragon, and the closer to the dragon the better. The dragon won't fly all the way out to the tower though, so I have to bridge over to around the point where its circling. This point is about halfway between our tower and 0,0, but you'll notice I actually go way past this point. In fact I actually bridge far enough out to place a block at exactly 0,0 laterally. I'll explain why I do this once it's relevant.
But once I’m done, the dragon will be approaching a convenient height to deal damage. This gives me just enough time to set up my bed before the dragon passes overhead. Most of the time you would detonate one bed here, and then wait for the dragon to come back around to detonate another. However, the time spent waiting for the dragon to pass by for 4 different beds really adds up. So being quirky like I am, I detonate two beds at once, so I only need to wait for the dragon to pass by twice. I even further cut down the wait time by bridging out towards the dragon instead of just waiting for it to pass directly over me.
Now detonating two consecutive beds may seem obvious, but normally this would only deal the damage of a single bed. This is where the crossbows come in, as they allow me to perform damage tick offsets(youtu.be/yeXVqUfH_cg). They don't deal any extra damage(they might actually reduce it), they just enable the beds to do full damage. Theoretically you could do this without damage tick offsetting at the cost of maybe half a second, but even with playback that feels outside my abilities. I guess I might also mention that I place the second bed off of the fire generated by the first bed, but that's more of a silly lil thing.
And after detonating the last two beds the fight is basically over. Technically these beds destroy an end crystal, which modifies the dragons path slightly, but it doesn't interfere since the dragon immediately dies anyway. Upon finding itself dead, the dragon will start flying towards the highest block at 0,0. It's not until it gets to this block and plays the death animation that the end fountain opens. This is why I placed a block at 0,0 earlier. If I didn't, then the highest block at 0,0 would still be down at the fountain, meaning the dragon would have to fly all the way down just to start the death animation. But since that block is basically level with us, the dragon just has to fly over a little. It still takes a bit, but it's much better than the 10+ seconds it takes to descend down to the fountain, stacked with the 10 seconds of the death animation.
But anyway there you have it. Possibly one of my favorite strats, and possibly one of my favorite TASes I've made.
