Up until today I just figured that relogging completely reset your velocity. But, as it turns out, this isn't entirely true. In fact, even though you lose all your momentum, your "actual" velocity remains unchanged. This has a lot of implications that I haven't quite considered fully yet, but I figured I'd make this video before I file this into the random unassuming knowledge section of my brain.

Now, this "actual" velocity doesn't actually move your player at all, but it does get used for a few interesting things. Most importantly for my enderpearl addicted self is that it controls what velocity you transfer to projectiles. So if you throw a projectile(like a pearl), it'll spawns with the this velocity added onto it, even if you're completely still.

On one coin, this allows you to semi-preserve your velocity through a save and quit, which can be useful in whatever number of scenarios. I mention potentially killing the dragon with a single arrow using this, but you'd probably need a y 125 fountain for that lmao.

But! On the other coin! It lets you gain velocity without moving. This doesn't go for every velocity source, but I feel like there should be some applications for this. In the video I show continuously relogging in midair to build up to terminal velocity, but imagine doing something like that with explosions or entity pushing.

This doesn't seem to work with changing dimensions, but I do wonder how it would behave with something like the s+q nether warp.

Anyway, no crazy strats today, but an interesting fact that I feel like will have interesting applications if used correctly. I'm honestly baffled I hadn't noticed this all these years. I guess other people probably already knew, but was just that random unassuming knowledge I mentioned that you never bring up. oh well... here's to the future I guess.
