I've been having A Time, and after some consideration I think I want to start uploading smaller videos here. I keep too much locked behind unlisted videos, private chats, and my brain(the least trustworthy!!), and that just feels unfair. But I suppose that should include publishing all my unlisted videos too, even if old stuff might be kinda wrong or cringe. So here you go ❤️ Smthn smthn growing as a person new year new me.

Original Title: optimal mine+build up inputs (presumably)

Original Upload Date: Apr 26, 2022

Original Description:
The time taken for both is just 6 ticks + the time it takes to break the block(so 7 ticks for instamine). I'm quite satisfied with this solution because i'm pretty confident this is as fast as you can go, unless you can somehow overlap placing a block with mining. Each block takes 5 ticks to decrease bhd, 1 tick to place the block, and x ticks to actually mine the block.

Notes:
This is pretty well documented I suppose.

The inputs for each tick can be seen in the bottom left/just by watching, just keep in mind that I use left alt as my break block button. I mainly do this because my left click button is broken and to reduce mouse delay. However, it also incidentally represses the break block key every tick instead of holding it. This is useful because repressing break during the tick after breaking a block allows for BHD to decrease quicker. You can do this without binding break block to the keyboard, you just have to make sure to manually repress it during the tick after breaking a block. Don’t let go of it for a whole tick, or else there won’t be an effect, just repress it the same tick you release it. The fact that I hold break while jumping is also important for BHD, as it lets me decrease it while waiting to land from the jump.

Sidenote: BHD just stands for Block Hit Delay. There's a small delay between when you finish mining one block, and can start mining another. This is "BHD," and its basically just a cooldown which gets set to 5 when you finish mining a block(except for insta-mine blocks*). The cooldown will then decrease once a tick, but only if you're actively trying to mine a block. Once it hits 0 you can start mining again. The interesting thing about BHD is that it's consistent, and that its tied to the player, not just a block that you're mining. So its always a 5 tick delay, even if I'm in the air or underwater. And since it's just tied to the player, you don't have to be mining strictly one block for all 5 ticks. In fact they could be 5 different blocks in 5 different dimensions, only to mine a whole other block after that. Unrelated to this context, it's also reset to 0 when relogging, which can cause issues/make it exploitable in some scenarios(TAS/glitched).

*Insta-mine blocks more or less ignore BHD since they don't reset it to 5 after they break. Plus it doesn't even have to be 0 in order to mine them, assuming you click each one individually. If you're holding break though you do still have to wait for BHD to decrease to 0.
