On February 2, 2024. An officer from the Chetek Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after the registered owner's license came back as being revoked. The officer activated his body camera a few seconds after he made contact with the driver (Nicholas). The officer noticed signs of impairment and when asked, Nicholas admitted to having a few drinks. He was given the option to go to the police department to do field sobriety tests because it was cold outside which Nicholas agreed to. At the police department, Nicholas had an excuse to not do most of the tests. He was transported to the hospital for a blood draw and made threats about harming the officer and other people on the way. The blood draw later revealed that Nicholas had a BAC of .244. He was found guilty for OWI (2nd), and Disorderly Conduct. He was sentenced to 25 days in jail, his license got revoked for 15 months and he was ordered to pay over $2000 in fines.
