Most people start their curl journey with a curl cream — and for most hair types, it's the wrong first product. Curl creams condition and soften. That's their job. But if your hair is already soft, fine, low porosity, or on the wavier side, adding more softness is working against you. If your curls are frizzy and not lasting, then this could be why.
The hair types that actually benefit from curl creams: medium to coarse, rough finish, or more damaged hair that genuinely needs that extra conditioning and slip. Everyone else — a lightweight leave-in or heat protectant and a strong hold gel is all you need.
