Rewetting everything disturbs the curls that did not need help. The goal on a refresh is to do the least amount of intervention possible and only touch what actually needs it.
Here is how to target just the curls that need water without affecting the ones that do not.
Assess first. Look for curls that are puffy and undefined rather than coiled. Those are your targets. The ones that still look good get left alone entirely.
Isolate before you add anything. Pick up the curl individually and separate it from the surrounding hair at the root so you can see the clump clearly on its own. Frizzy hairs get tangled into neighboring sections and if you add water before isolating you are just wetting the mess.
Then add water. Wet hands work better than a spray bottle here because you have more control. Smooth the water over that single curl and press the spread apart hairs back together into a clump.
You are not soaking it. You are just giving it enough moisture to reform.
One curl at a time. Good curls stay untouched.
