If your gel isn't casting, the first place to look isn't your gel.
It's your conditioning level.
The signs: hair that won't spring back up, feels limp or way too soft when you're styling, gel that can't seem to grip. Those all point to the same thing.
A strong enough gel can sometimes cast through a little too much conditioning. But if you can't get a cast no matter what gel you use, that's your signal to look at what's happening before the gel.
