In this clip, I’m showing a hands-only rake + clump technique I use when certain sections refuse to cooperate.
Instead of adding more product, I:
Smooth the section first
Use my hands like a brush to guide hairs into a clump
Scrunch to help that clump form
Re-smooth + scrunch again if loose hairs pop out
Clumping isn’t about forcing curls — it’s about helping them group naturally, especially in areas that tend to go stringy.
This works great for longer hair and problem sections, and it can also be layered into your gel application — as long as you’re still lifting the hair off the scalp.
