This yoga class was filmed in Sept. 2020, during a time of heightened physical and emotional isolation as well as increased anxiety related to the unknown. I hope this class finds you in a place of access to some personal time and space to take care of yourself. I know that it may be challenging to take that time for yourself, but it is well worth it. Thank you for joining me and the FPY community for this class - you are not alone.
This 40-minute class begins with a breathing exercise connected to a hand Mudra followed by a quote from the poet Mary Oliver, (Wild Geese).
Enjoy a gentle warm up on your back, with hip compressions and twists. Continue to warm up your spine with bridge rolls and spinal rolls.
Open your chest, neck, and lungs with neck stretches and cat cows before moving toward heart-melting pose and then onto your feet with breathwork in mountain pose and standing cactus pose.
Down dog and three-legged dog lead toward deep stretches in a wide-legged low lunge, half pigeon pose, and malasana (deep squat).
Enjoy finding your feet, breath, and focus with Tree pose. The last 10 minutes of class are focused on stretches including crescent moon and half splits. Class comes full circle with rolling bridges and supine twists at the end of class.
Enjoy Savasana and a reminder that YOU are not alone.
Namaste, Erin
