In this XERO Ridgeway Ultra Light Weight Waterproof Hiking Boot Review, I try these shoes on, then wear them exclusively for 2 weeks before sharing my final thoughts about these barefoot shoes.
These shoes weigh about 13 ounces, which is lighter than many running shoes.
I'm excited about these shoes for a couple of reasons, which I'll get to in just a moment.
As you may know, I'm a big fan of XERO shoes in general, mostly because of their wide toe box and zero-drop sole. In case you're not familiar, the zero drop means there's no slope down from the heel to the toe, like almost every shoe has. That's something I like because it feels good on my knees and allows our bodies to walk or run in a way more similar to being barefoot.
Getting to the reasons I'm excited about the XERO Ridgeway. One reason is that these shoes are waterproof. I usually wear the XERO Prio or HFS year round, and although I love them, your feet get wet pretty quickly in damp grass or when conditions are generally wet.
Another reason I'm excited about the Ridgeway is the soles are supposed to be grippy. That's something I've missed from my XERO Prios and HFSs when I'm hiking.
My experience with these XERO Ridgeway Hiker Shoes is that they fit true to size. They did prevent my feet from getting wet while wearing them in the snow, and they are supposed to be waterproof.
I'm very happy with my XERO Ridgeways, and I think they are especially good for wet conditions and hiking. They are comfortable compared to other hiking shoes I've owned, and the Zero Drop from heel to toe is something I really appreciate.
