The Germans were first to deploy acoustic triggered sea mines in WWII. A couple of the mines were recovered by the British in 1940. Counter measures were quickly adopted. Acoustic mine countermeasures included Minesweepers equipped with gear designed to detonate the Acoustic mines at a safe distance from either the ship.
