The USAAF were impressed with the combat effectiveness of the German Ju-87 Stuka dive bomber that they modified the P-51 mustang into the A-36 dive bombing mustang by adding bomb racks, 6 machine guns for strafing and dive brakes to help control the planes speed during a vertical dive. 500 units were delivered in 1942 and 1943. The performed well in the Italian campaign. The results of the planes combat effectiveness is discussed in the video.
