In 1979 American soul and R&B group The Spinners recorded a new version of "Working My Way Back to You" with a section added on to the end called "Forgive Me Girl" making it a disco-soul medley. The song, without the added ending, was originally recorded by The Four Seasons in 1966. The Spinners version went to #2 in the US, #1 in the UK, #6 on the Soul Singles chart[, and #8 on the disco/dance chart. Emerging from a Detroit public housing project, the group formed in in 1954 and enjoyed a string of hit singles and albums during the 1960's and 1970's. They have sometimes been referred to as The Detroit Spinners, and The Motown Spinners, due to their 1960's recordings with the Motown label. The group received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Grammy, and R&R Hall of Fame nominations.
