This a 1981 live concert Nine Tonight LP release of "Old Time Rock and Roll" by Bob Seger. The first version (piano lead-in) was released as a single from his Stranger in Town LP in 1979 that reached the #28 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The original song was written and recorded by R&B/soul songwriters George Jackson and Thomas Jones III as a demo. As the story goes, Seger initially tried to record the song using his Silver Bullet Band, but couldn't match the intensity of the original demo's rock & roll backing track, so he used his own voice-over in order to finish the 1979 LP. Seger, however, claimed that he "rewrote every verse you hear except for the choruses". The song showed up in the movie Risky Business, remains a staple on classic rock radio, and was named one of the Songs of the Century in 2001. Seger, a songwriter himself, was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012, and also into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
