On May 3, 2024. An officer from the Fennimore Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an obstructed front license plate. The officer asked the driver (Rusty) for his license and proof of insurance and asked the passengers for their information. They stated that their names were Riley and Molly. Another officer arrived on scene and went to the driver side window and noted the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A record’s check was run on all occupants of the vehicle and no information came back for Molly. Everyone was asked to exit the vehicle and they were patted down to make sure they didn't have any weapons on them. While patting Riley down, an officer felt a pipe-like object in his pocket. He removed the pipe and observed it had burnt residue in it. Riley informed the officer that he had forgotten that he had the pipe on him. A search of the vehicle revealed a purse containing information to a woman named Abbigail. An officer provided dispatch with Abbigail's name and found out that she had valid warrants for her arrest. A booking photo revealed that the woman claiming to be Molly was in fact Abbigail. The officer returned to Abbigail and called her by her real name. Abigail admitted that she had lied about her name because she knew she had a warrant. Abbigail was then informed that she was going to be placed under arrest for the warrant and that she would be cited for obstructing an officer by lying about her identity. She was handcuffed, placed in the back of a squad car, and was transported to the Grant County Jail. Abbigail was found guilty for Resisting or Obstructing an Officer and ordered to pay a $200 fine.
