On March 15, 2024. A deputy from the Grant County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle that was going 105 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. The deputy approached the rider (Michael) and told him he was stopped for speeding. Micheal stated that he was traveling from Illinois to Minnesota. When questioned on how much he had to drink, Micheal stated “Not much”. He was informed that he was clocked going 105 MPH, Michael then removed his jacket and said “Arrest me”. He refused to do field sobriety tests or a PBT and invoked the 5th amendment by ignoring a few of the deputies' questions. Michael was searched and placed in handcuffs. Two small bottles of fireball were located in his pocket and an entire bucket of fireball shots were located in the side compartment of his motorcycle. He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw before being transported to the county jail. Michael was charged with Operating while Intoxicated, and a speeding citation for 105 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. This case is still pending.
