Peter Helland discusses with Judy Latanation the history of the idea of the Bible and morality in America’s public schools. Peter taught as a sub for about 8 years in South Bend. He got fired for reading a Bible silently to himself in front of students. His case got international front headlines in January of 1997. His case was declined by the U.S. Supreme Court. Now there are State Superintendents demanding the Bible and the ten commandments be taught in the public schools. Very bizarre indeed.
